FirefighterS
While our department is made up of unpaid volunteers, we consider our efforts to be essential in protecting Paradise Valley from structure and wildland fires. In that sense, we all have a hand in preventing and fighting fire activity in our community, whether it’s by mitigation or being an active volunteer.
Our firefighters come from all walks of life. Some of our volunteers are retired firefighters and law enforcement officers who joined us after serving other communities. There are members who have no background in firefighting, but they joined us after successful business careers. We also enthusiastically welcome younger members of the community who would like to explore a career.
We meet each Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at our station. These sessions are used for fire and EMS training, incident reviews and equipment checks in order that we can successfully serve our community. We welcome potential volunteers to join one of these meetings to explore if PVFD might be right for you!
Emergency Medical Technician
Over the years, our EMTs have done everything from reviving patients through CPR to delivering babies. Using the two ambulances at our disposal, we often are first on scene for emergencies in our area. When advanced treatment is needed, we are able to relay critical information to paramedics en route from Livingston, and together we provide a level of care that is unmatched in most rural areas.
Once a firefighter passes their probationary period, we offer opportunities for members to become EMTs. There also are opportunities to earn endorsements for advanced skills.
